With TS3 technology, timber construction is conquering large buildings and can replace traditional reinforced concrete in many projects. The Zelgstrasse project in Uster is a good example of how this innovative technology can pave the way from solid construction to ecologically sustainable timber construction. Thinking in concrete - building with wood. We were able to turn our vision into reality when planning the residential development on Zelgstrasse in Uster. The five buildings were initially planned in concrete, but then the client was convinced of the advantages of timber construction and TS3. The change of building material is relatively simple, as the planning with the biaxial load-bearing cross laminated timber panels is similar to reinforced concrete projects.
The five buildings comprise a total of 164 apartments on an area of 16,000 m². The urban planning concept is based on sustainable construction methods and integrates advanced technologies. The buildings are made entirely of wood, which ensures that the majority of the building materials can be fully recycled and reused once the building is no longer in use.
